Aspern, Vienna’s Lake-side town
Aspern, Vienna’s lake-side town in the 22nd Viennese municipality district, is one of the largest town development areas in Europe: Over the next 25 years a new district will be built on approximately 240 hectares, creating space for 20,000 inhabitants and as many positions of employment, which will not only become the local supply centre for the entire 22nd district and its catchment area.
This is where Aspern, Vienna’s lake-side town develops. The city of tomorrow that will connect lives and work in a completely new way.
At the beginning of the development the focus is on the settlement of businesses. The planning and building of the first housing has already begun in 2010.
The building of the extension of the U2 underground line in the Vienna’s lake-side began in the autumn 2009 and completion is planned for 2013.
The central location between Vienna and Bratislava makes the lake-side town into an important hub in the construction of the joint economic area, Centrope.
The Vienna 3420 Aspern development AG is developing the lake-side town and is a subsidiary of the Vienna Business Agency and the Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft [Federal Real Estate Association](BIG),collaborating closely with the Vienna housing fund. The Immobilienentwicklungsgesellschaft [Real Estate Development Association], hereinafter referred to briefly as Vienna 3420 AG, was exclusively established by the owners for the long-term and goal-oriented development and utilization of the lake-side town project. The executive committee is made up of Claudia Nutz and Rainer Holzer.
